PHP Web Development

Wonders of PHP

In the current times of cutting edge technology, a concept that has taken the web developing world by storm is Hypertext Preprocessor or PHP.  PHP assists in creating dynamic and interactive web pages. Today, PHP programmers and developers are in high demand for software development all over the world and extensively recruited from offshore countries, PHP developers and programmers are hired the most.

Assistance of PHP in Web Programming

  • PHP is the perfect choice in implementing an assorted range of programming functions like Array, Error handling, String, Date, Filter, MySQL, SimpleXML functions, FTP, Directory, Filesystem, HTTP, Math functions, Misc functions, XML Parser, LibXML, Mail functions and Zip functions.
  • PHP assists multiple databases such as MySQL, Oracle, MS Access and SQL Server.
  • Popular CMS such as WordPress, JOOMLA/Virtuemart, Drupal are developed in PHP
  • Therefore the wonders of PHP aid more than 700 functions and effectively lessen the intricacies in programming.

Wonders of PHP

  • Cost-effective- PHP is a cost-effective web developing tool. Since PHP is an open source system, web developing by means of PHP does not incur much expense.
  • Scope for Customization- PHP websites are open to customization and can be manipulated by the programmers to suit their purpose.
  • Faster- Clients desire their dynamic websites to be developed in Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) due to the speed. A large number of websites are also developed in ASP but later they are switched over to PHP, for it is faster and quicker than ASP.
  • Preferred over others- PHP is preferred over Java and .NET oriented websites in spite of better security and resolution, as most of the websites that are live today are not much concerned with security.

The World Wide Web is full of several in-built PHP scripts and applications that are available in today’s time. The internet abounds with manuals and tutorials that give an insight into the workings of PHP and helps you to learn it quickly. Without any doubt, PHP programmers can envision a golden future with a lot of scope while engaging in web development activities.

Advantages of PHP Web Designing Framework

Developing WebPages that are creatively different and varied in terms of looks, design as well as other features, is what stands apart in this today’s high online traffic. The need to constantly evolve newer techniques of web development has led to technological advances in varied directions and one such avenue that has been explored in this quest is PHP.

What is PHP?
PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor or what was called as Personal Home Page initially. It is a general purpose scripting language that aids in the development of dynamic web pages and allied applications. PHP is very popular among webmasters because it is very easy to learn and understand.

What are PHP Frameworks?
The latest buzz in the PHP forums has been the recently expanding PHP frameworks that are making the web-based applications process easier. These PHP Frameworks allow webmasters to reuse the developed code, are intuitive to work with and of course stable and therefore create more impressive dynamic web content. Some of the popular PHP Frameworks are:

  • Zend
  • Symfony
  • CakePHP
  • Prado
  • Solar

Advantages of PHP Frameworks

Open-source language

PHP, being an open source language is completely free and can be installed without investing even a single penny on it. This makes it very popular among developers and web masters.

HTML Integration

PHP code can be easily embedded in the HTML coding and this allows the server to process any particular web pager even before it is displayed on the web browser.

Easy to learn and use

One thing which sets PHP apart from other programming languages is its simple to learn and easy to use nature. Compared to C, C++, ASP or ASP.net, PHP framework is very easy and simple and is therefore preferred by people across the globe.

Supports Versatility

Another feature which adds to the market value of PHP medium is the versatility that makes it compatible on all OS variants such as Mac OS, Windows, Linux etc.

Browser Support

PHP provides excellent compatibility to web browsers and content developed on this framework offers quicker navigation with efficient page loading as its processing speed is quite fast.

These and many other similar benefits offered by PHP have transformed it into the most preferred platform for web development, and the current scenario suggests a prosperous future for this technology.

A Glance at the History of PHP

PHP is worldwide adopted by web developers for its simplicity and capability to fetch stable, faster, and economical results. For more than a decade, PHP has been serving as a trusted scripting language to simplify & streamline variety of web exercises, which would otherwise be difficult to manage. In this blog, we are going to discuss in brief the transformations that PHP has seen in its evolution period.

Created by Rasmus Lerdorf, a Danish/Greenlandic programmer who wrote the original Common Gateway Interface component, PHP has undergone radical changes since its first official launch in 1995 to the latest stable release PHP 5.3.3 (launched on 22 July 2010). PHP initially comprised a set of Perl scripts, whose use was limited to maintain Lerdorf’s personal homepage. But later the need of more functionality was sought which necessitated Rasmus to write a larger C implementation with which efficient communication with databases can be established.

The further web development of PHP was taken over by Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans (the two developers from Technion IIT) in the year 1997, who rewrote the parser and built the base of PHP3. Then came PHP3.0, which had globally famed for its robust extensibility features. This version was supporting different kinds of protocols, databases, and APIs; thus tempted developers to be a part of PHP for adding new extension modules. PHP 3.0 was at the public testing for almost 9 months and then it was officially launched in June 1998.

Just after the release of PHP3.0, the two developers i.e. Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans have once more started the rework on PHP’s core, with the aim to maximize its performance for intricate applications. However, they primarily focused on the modularity of PHP’s code base. With the launch of PHP 4, they have re-proven the worth of this revolutionary scripting language. Now, as a result of continuous improvements, PHP has reached to its fifth version and serving the diverse needs of developers with much efficacy and comparatively serving their more complex functions.

Today, PHP’s contribution in World Wide Web can be measured with its use which accounts for more than 20% of the hosted domains.
